Hate Crime Investigation

One Charged, Two Sought for Homosexual Assault

An Amherstburg man is facing five charges after an incident police are treating as a hate crime. Police say two men were inside a Pizza Pizza franchise a Oulette and University when they endured an incident of verbal gay bashing. One of the victims confronted the assailant and was punched, a blow that broke his nose and cheekbone. 

Twenty-seven year old Raymond Meloche of Amherstburg faces charges of incitement of hatred, assault causing bodily harm, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. Police are looking for two other men.  Kelly Roche had the story.

Play Tackles Homophobia

A group of local teens is breaking down barriers while promoting conversation about homophobia, in a play about tolerance at the Capitol Theatre.Waking up blue was written in just five days, addressing themes such finding a prom date, locker room bullying, and prejudice learned at school and at home.

What Will You Pay for Water Rates?

Even as Windsor’s tax base is getting smaller roads and sewers are growing older.

The Windsor Utilities Commission is gently trying to get the message out that rates will have to rise to pay for what needs to be done.

Fundraisers Set for Family of Child Who Can’t Eat

Some people love food. Others like it. But out of every 10,000 children there is one whose body hates food.In fact, the very act of eating will cause an allergic reaction that could kill the child.On /A\ News at Six, Kelly Roche had the story of a local infant whose parents are being forced to move across the country in order to find help.

Summerfest Move Cancelled

But after receiving harassing phone calls and e-mails, the Windsor Parade Corporation announced today that it has had a change of heart.

Date Set for Community Colleges Strike

For about 200,000 college students February 11th is D-Day.

The union representing teachers has set that date as the strike deadline in its contract battle with Ontario’s community colleges.

As Kelly Roche reported on /A\ News at Six, regardless of the outcome, if there is a strike, there’s only one group who will really lose.

Driver in Fatal Crash Gets House Arrest, Probation
